Favorville (wich call itself a “Social Experiment”) is a social networking tool which provides members with the opportunity to help and be helped by others, it’s an iniciative from two Toronto guys: Daniel Talas and Parveen Sanghacall. Everybody that makes the registration, agree (with their selfs) that they want (and are ready) to help people.

When you make the registration, you choose the place that you live and try to find your city. If the site already have it, you can choose your neighborhood (probably a famous street near your home). All this process make easy for people near you to grab your help. But if your country or city doesn’t shows on the site, you also can help people globally.

Finishing the registration process, you are redirected for your “My Favorville” page. On this page, you can give tags that describe yourself. This tags are used for making easier for other members to find and ask for your help. For example, add “programming” tag if you specialize or can help the others with computers. Also on your “My Favorville” you can check your “Offered Favors”, your “Requested Favors”, and take a look at your “Connections”. If you click on your city name, you can check all the favors that are “rolling” on your city.

On the site menu there’s a tab called “Favors”, if you click there you can see what people are seeking and offering. In the case you want to help someone, just click on the topic headlight and send a message to the person, telling him how and why you can help him. He will be back in contact and then you can accomplish the favor :) . The favors are divided into categories, making easy to find a place where you are useful.

When someone helps you, you are oriented to comment your experience (that’s great!), giving rates to the person. Based on this, Favorville attribute a rating for every member, creating a kind of challenge (similar to Digg and others, “a lot of people wants to get on the top”). This helps the community growth.

As the first-of-its kind, Favorville is making a great job! There’s not a lot of users today, but i hope it’ll get bigger, and then we will have a trully internet world help community.

In a world where voluntary work are on the news everyday, people tends to enjoy services like Favorville. This site allow us to make the world a better place or at least make someones lifes better. And there is another point, we can make new friends and build lasting connections with helpful neighbors, both in your locale or across the global village.

Rating: ★★★★½

If you like Favorville, you will love Zakle.com. I’ve tried both and Zakle.com wins hands down. Tons more features and the ability to not only trade favors but also to help good causes.

Give it a try and see what you think.
